It’s a day filled with student influence, democracy and the nicest students in the world. All RUC-students are welcome and have full participation and voting rights. That means every student at RUC is invited – so come as you are, and bring one of your fellow students if you think they are interested!

Join SR’s Board of Directors

You can also run for SR’s Board of Directors, aka. “the board”. The board meets approximately once a month, follow what SR does and makes decisions for SR’s work throughout the year. So if you want to become a more integrated part in the representation of the students, both locally at RUC and nationally via Danske Studerendes Fællesråd, and want a say in the type of events and activities we make, then you should strongly consider running for the board.

The only requirement is that you are a student at RUC. You can run for a seat on the board on the General Assembly. If you are unable to attend the General Assembly, you can also announce your candidacy by sending an email to contact@sr-ruc.dk no later than Friday the 6th of December 2024. When you run for a seat on the board, you can get elected to be on the board from February 2025 to January 2026.

A friendly tip: Think about what you find interesting about SR and how you hope to work with that as a board member. If you can say a little bit about that on the General Assembly, that makes your candidacy stronger!

Other ways of being part of SR

There are many ways to be active in the Student Council at RUC. Besides participating in the General Assembly, and maybe running for a seat on SR’s board, you can also join our committees.

As a committee member, you don’t need to get elected – all you need to do is show interest in joining a specific committee. We have committees making social events (such as the semester start party), committees working with student politics, and much more!

By going to the General Assembly, you can get an overview of the options within SR. You can be a part of the committees no matter if you’re a board member or not, but if you’re motivated and driven, there are more ways to take advantage of the possibilities if you’re also a board member.

The Student Council (SR) and RUC Study & Career Guidance are looking for ambitious and competent students to be the Chairpersons of Tutoring 2025

Are you passionate about creating a safe and inclusive study start so that our new students get the best possible start to their life as students at Roskilde University? Do you want to help provide our tutors with the necessary training and ensure that the study start is completed in a satisfactory way? Do you thrive in a work environment characterised by an interplay between development and strategy work and the realisation of events? Then you might be just the ones we are looking for.

Description of tasks

Your main objective as Tutoring Chairpersonship is to educate and prepare the tutors and other volunteers so they can make a safe and inclusive study start for all new bachelor students at the university. The different tasks within this objective will vary from event planning and volunteer coordination to collaborating with many different parts of the RUC organisation, which includes the following:

• Coordinating the volunteers, including recruiting RUS-coordinators and tutors.
• Developing a tutor education program and organising and executing the different seminars and events.
• Implementing different initiatives to ensure that the tutoring program is inclusive and accessible to all students.
• Collaborating with university staff from the administration and the institutes, etc., including bi-weekly coordination meetings with SR and RUC Study & Career Guidance.
• Handling any unexpected practical issues or emergencies that arise during the study start and general support of the tutors’ work.

As part of their work, the Tutoring Chairpersonship is expected to adhere to the strategy and focus points as directed by the “Uddannelsesstrategisk Ledelsesforum (ULF)” and adopt any specific tasks in accordance with these focus points.

Professional requirements

We emphasise that you:

• Have an interest and insight in RUC Tutoring and the study start, perhaps you’ve been a volunteer in Tutoring before.
• Are open-minded, cooperative and seek compromise while maintaining the ability to follow a clearly defined course of action and reach broad, overarching goals.
• Are structured and systematic in your problem-solving and can keep a level head in unexpected or stressful situations.
• Have organisational skills and a strong sense of overview for large projects.
• Possess skills (and preferably experience) with volunteer management, but even more importantly you are humble in the task of the leadership of Tutoring.
• Are passionate about creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for the tutors and other volunteers, so they are prepared to create a fantastic and welcoming experience for all new bachelor students starting at RUC in 2025.

Furthermore, it is required that you are an enrolled RUC student during the entire period of Tutoring 2025.

What we offer

As Chairpersonship of Tutoring you will become an important part of an engaged volunteer community at RUC whilst also collaborating with various parts of the RUC organisation, which among other things means that you get:

• The chance to make a significant and lasting impact on the study start experience for new students at RUC.
• Opportunities to test and develop personal skills in a dynamic and exciting setting, including project management, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Hands-on leadership experience by managing a team of volunteers and coordinating large-scale events.
• Valuable experience that for your CV, showcasing leadership, organisational, and volunteer management skills.

Salary

The Chairpersonship of Tutoring will be paid with the equivalent of 200 hours of work in total. However, this figure is not representative of the total volunteer time commitment, which is expected to be significantly higher. The salary is paid out as an honorarium from RUC, which amounts to DKK 30,000 in total, to be distributed between the chairpersons. The honorarium is paid according to a further agreement with the RUC Study & Career Guidance. The final payment will be made after the submission of a report/review of Tutoring 2025 by the chairpersonship.

Under festivalen har du også ledelsesmæssigt ansvar i samarbejde med folkene fra Roskilde Festival. Du kommer også til at stå for den løbende kontakt mellem Studenterrådet ved RUC og Roskilde Festival under planlægningen og afviklingen af festivalen.

festivalen står du blandt andet for frivilligforplejning (snacks, drikkevarer, mad), frivilligmotivation (samtaler med frivillige), registrering af hjemsendte frivillige ved sygdom til RF, daglig kontakt med RF’s campkoordinator og dine service managers samt opsætning og nedtagning af frivilligområde. Disse opgaver kan deles mellem flere koordinatorer og medskabere. Medskabere er frivilige som hjælper dig i dit arbejde i at sørge for at de frivilige har det godt. Din opgave er altså i overvejende grad at sørge for at alle vagterne er besat og at de frivilige har det godt på deres vagt.

Du får mulighed for at udvikle dine koordinerings- og ledelsesevner, samtidig med du har ansvaret for at skabe de rammerne for vores frivillige under festivalen, og dermed sikre at alle får en god festivaloplevelse.

Efter festivalen har du ansvaret for at lukke regnskabet og udarbejde en skriftlig beretning omkring dit arbejde, som gives videre til næste års koordinatorer. Du vil løbende gennem processen (før, under og efter festivalen) have samarbejde med Studenterrådets ledelse, som særligt hjælper med fastsættelsen af de overordnede rammer, budget og kontraktlige forhold.

Vi lægger vægt på, at:

• Du er udadvendt, og kan engagere, motivere og aktivere folk omkring dig

The Student Council is looking for a RUS Chairpersonship to oversee the planning and execution of RUC Tutoring 2024.

The RUS Chairpersonship consists of two people who are given the overall responsibility for ensuring that tutors receive the necessary training and that Tutoring is carried out in a satisfactory manner. This includes the recruitment of tutors, organization and execution of a training program, division of tutors into tutor groups, coordination of trips and events, preparation of a budget, and general support of the tutors’ work. It is also the responsibility of the RUS Chairpersonship to ensure that the overall objectives of Tutoring 2024 are achieved, the most important of which is the provision of a comprehensive and engaging study start for new students.

As part of their work, the RUS Chairpersonship is expected to collaborate and keep an open, ongoing dialogue with the Student Council’s Chairpersonship and secretariat regarding practical tasks and the development of the Tutoring concept. 

Personal Requirements

The position requires effective organizational skills and a strong sense of overview for large projects. It additionally requires but is not limited to, the ability to handle stressful situations and pressure, that you have an understanding of (or willingness to learn) to work with budgets and accounts, and skills (and preferably experience) in volunteer management.

Furthermore, in-depth knowledge of Tutoring in its entirety is required. The RUS Chairpersonship must cooperate with many different parties, including tutors, a RUSK team, the Student Council’s Chairpersonship and board, and RUC’s administrative staff. Therefore, a RUS Chairpersonship must be cooperative and seek compromise, while still maintaining the ability to follow a clearly defined course of action and reach broad, overarching goals. Finally, it is expected that the RUS Chairpersonship is passionate about creating a fantastic Tutoring for all new bachelor students starting at RUC in 2024.

Lastly, it is required that you are an enrolled RUC student during the entire chairpersonship period.

Remuneration:

The RUS Chairpersonship will be remunerated with the equivalent of 200 hours of work in total. In the application, the applicants are expected to, in addition to explaining their qualifications for the position, consider how they want to develop Tutoring in the future. This is to include detailing how they will meet their objectives.

The application must detail the aspects of Tutoring you believe are important to focus on in 2024. We do not expect you to have Tutoring 2024 planned out – however, it is important that you have included your reflections and priorities prior to future employment.

Ideas for content can thus be the following (though anything can be included as long as your visions and priorities are clear):

• What visions will you work towards in 2024 – for example in relation to inclusion, communication, or something else?
• How will you recruit RUSKs and tutors?
• How will you organize the training and education plan to ensure that the tutors are ready to carry out their work? This applies to, among other things, seminars and what each should contain.
• What are your reflections on your own qualifications – especially in relation to the above description of the role. Feel free to name other things you find relevant.

Interviews:

Interviews will be held in December. Interviews will be conducted by a recruitment committee and will be based on the written applications.

The recruitment committee consists of at least:

• Representatives from the Student Council
• The 2023 RUS Chairpersonship
• Tutors from 2023
• Employees from the study and career guidance

Tillykke til de 1574 ansøgere, der er blevet tilbudt plads på en af Roskilde Universitets bacheloruddannelser!

I dag (28. juli 2023) har 1.574 ansøgere modtaget deres optagelsesbrev fra RUC. Studenterrådet fulgte tallene tæt i går aftes forud for studiestarten. Når de nye studerende starter, bliver de budt velkommen af en 100% studenterdrevet rusvejledning, som Studenterrådet har ansvaret for at afvikle.

De studerende er hverdagens eksperter, og det gode studiemiljø starter og slutter med de studerende i fokus. Grobunden for det gode studiemiljø starter allerede under rusvejledningen. Derfor er det en fordel, at studiestarten varetages af studerende. Rusvejledningen drives af ildsjæle, der brænder for at give deres nye medstuderende en god start på universitetet.

Vi glæder os til at møde alle jer, der meget snart bliver vores nye medstuderende!
